Better morning

Kyndall walked down the hall today with Julie. She was tired but she did it! She has a fever today so they did a chest xray and it was fine. So that is good news too! Her teacher and friends are coming by today. One of her little best friends who was in the boat that day will come by and see Kyndall. I know that will really be nice to have them there. They have been SO blessed with a great support system throughout this week. Their church, teachers, friends, and even a few celebrities stopping by. Plus, Kyndall has 2 wonderful parents who are surrounding her with positive love.
Have a blessed weekend!
Tonight Lauren has her dance recital and we can't wait to see that pretty smile on stage. I hope to load my camera up with some great pictures.
Blessings~Rob

I talked to Kyndall on the phone....

Kyndall had qualified for State this year in swimming. This is her at one of her meets. Someday soon she will be back!
She is not having a very good day. She is not very alert and was hurting.
They just gave her something for it. Julie said she has the blues. They gave her a shower and hoped that would make her feel better. She is having lots of headaches and neck pain so they did another CT scan on her last night. It was ok. The body/brain is just bruised and needs to heal. Really the same news we already knew.
The doctor told them that it will be several days till she can go home. There is just too much still going on with her that needs to be watched plus she needs help walking. Not sure if she can't walk because of her being weak or because of her brain. Maybe a combination of both. She is seeing double vision so that wears her out too. She didn't sound very good on the phone which broke my heart. I understand though. The rest of this will come together in time. It is hard not to rush her but I thank the Lord for doctors who are being aggressive with her care. Takes time......... we will give
her all the time she needs!
Plus the prayers:)

Lauren, my 10 year old daughter is having a hard time with this. Kyndall is not just a cousin but her best friend. This weekend we will work on a letter and a care package of love. I am kind of stuck on what could we send her. Any suggestions? We were trying to think of something she could use or play with when she got home. With hurt shoulder, trouble walking, and her eyes not working just right kind of limits us. I know all of this will get better in time but Lauren wants to get her something for now. I know it will make Lauren feel better to send her some love. Thanks in advance for any ideas.......just stumped right now!
Anyway, Kyndall is still hanging in there. Just part of the healing process.
Thank you for praying.

Today is going well

A little update on Kyndall and her family. She seems even better today. In her new room and not the ICU! Yeah. She was able to keep down more food. That is a good sign. She will need more physical therapy for some time. Brett tried walking her to the bathroom and she just couldn't make it. Still needs time to heal. Julie went home last night to get some rest and Brett stayed with her. I talked to him this morning. He sounded sooooo tired. I think his body is just now starting to relax from being so stressed out. He went home to sleep and spend time with Griffen. Poor Griff woke up throwing up. Not sure what that is all from but he is better my mom said. Julie's dad and his wife are flying in today. I know that will make Kyndall smile. Julie's mother passed away from Breast cancer last year. Mother's Day was already so hard on her and then this with Kyndall happened.......but Kyndall is going to be ok! Praise the Lord. We could certainly be facing a lot more right now. We feel so blessed.

When I started this blog a year ago, I did it only to help me keep track of my family and to print it out for them someday. God has opened the door for me to meet so many amazing women and their families since then. With Kyndall's accident I feel like my circle of blogger friends has grown. Lots of you are going through so much with your own family. I started a prayer list to keep me accountable to pray. I can honestly say I know first hand the power of prayer:) Thank you again for stopping by to pray, comment, or just make sure she was still doing ok. It is nice to have Sisters in Christ.

You have come a long way sweet girl.....

in such short amount of time. The POWER of prayer!

CT was good! They are letting her out of ICU. She just had a real lunch sitting in a chair. Still so tired and very wobbly on her feet, but out of the bed. Looks like they will get to stick around for a little PT.

God is Good!

Talked to Brett tonight

Brett called, Kyndall is talking more and staying up longer. She has been so sleepy. Her shoulder hurts really bad. The good news is she will not need surgery to repair it. Brett thinks it happened when he pulled her by the arm into the boat from the water. When he saw her floating lifeless it scared him to death so he just grabbed onto anything he could to get her in. Bless his heart, I think it shakes him up to think about seeing her like that and then having to breathe for her. Just so glad he knew what to do! He is home tonight with Griffen and my parents. Griff is missing his family so Brett came home. He took him to his baseball game. I know that helped having daddy home.

Kyndall is wanting to go home. Laying still in bed for a 12year old little girl is not fun. They have plans to have occupational therapy come help her walk. The brain is still swollen so this may be why she is having so much trouble with this. Also, the are planning to have her try to eat tomorrow. She has to do these things before she can move out of the PICU. Julie is with her tonight. I hope that they both get some rest and tomorrow is a day filled with lots of success. The doctors are calling her one lucky little girl! I have to agree, but I would say she is one watched over little girl by our Heavenly Father!

Thank you for praying.

A message from my sister in law

Just saw the neurosurgeon who thought Kyndall was much better! He was all smiles, and so am I. :) Saw orthopaedist, as well. She has a shoulder separation, but not serious enough to require surgery. Pretty sure this is from Brett pulling her back up into the boat by her arm. Thanks to all of those still checking on us, visiting us, and praying for us.

A little more time to heal

is what Kyndall is needing. Today has been kind of rough on her. She tried to eat and threw it up so they started another IV. She tried to walk and just couldn't. She is having some visual problems too. I guess we were all so excited on the big turn around she made we kind of forgot that this may take some time for her brain to heal. I know her parents are just wanting their sweet girl home! What she is going through is normal I am sure, it just stinks to hear her feeling so bad. She is still in the PICU and we will keep praying for her to get better!

Thank you for praying.

Good Morning

Kyndall is more alert today and knows what is going on. Yesterday she was so sleepy and her eyes were having a hard time focusing. There is even a rumor floating around she might leave the ICU if she keeps getting better! Yeah.......Love you Kyndall.

Thank you for praying

From Julie

Good reports! Bleeding stopped on CAT scan. MRI of neck was good, so cervical collar can come off. And she (Kyndall) got kinda ticked at Brett when he asked her to spell cat and multiply 2x2...did get the answers right, though. :) Thanks again for wonderful friends and family!

YEAH!! BEYOND THRILLED over here. The Power of prayer my friends....the POWER of prayer! She just made this HUGE turn around in the past 12 hours. I know with all of my heart it is because so many people were praying for her.

Wow!

We pray that she will continue to get stronger. Thank God for the great report and for the prayers of His people.

Waiting on results......

and praying for results!
This is Julie (my sister in law) and Kyndall.
I got this from Julie, nothing new to report at this point. We are waiting on CAT scan and MRI results. She's still very sleepy but knows what's going on when she's awake.

I don't know about you but I see the power of prayer working! Thank you Lord for answering our prayers for Kyndall.

Noon update on Kyndall

I talked to my brother. They had planned on a CT scan early this morning but for some reason it was pushed back to one o'clock. She is doing good off the vent but is in and out a lot. Her night was pretty rough. She hurts real bad and whimpers. Her white blood count is up and they are watching that. Could be from the trauma or could be infection setting into her lungs. My parents made it to New Orleans to be with my brother and sister in law. I am so thankful for that. My mom said she is swollen and pretty bruised up around the eyes. The Neurosurgeon said Kyndall is one lucky little girl but she is by far not out of the woods. There are 2 skull fractures around the right side of her temple and one big one at the back of her head. This is an abnormal place to bleed so they are concerned. Our prayers are that her scan will show that it has stopped and that the brain is not swelling.

Thank you blogger friend and new blogger friends for praying with me. This is so hard to just wait on news. I do know one thing, she is in the hands of the great physician.

We are praying for you Kyndall Paige!

6:30 am update on Kyndall

I just talked to Brett. Her white blood cell count is up so infection is setting in her little body. She is getting pneumonia. Possibly from all of the water she swallowed in her lungs. Please pray for her to respond to the antibiotics. They are doing another CT scan and MRI at 8am. I will post when I know something. They decided to take out her tube last night. She has been in and out. She told Brett her whole body hurts at one time and then was out. As a nurse, I think that is a pretty good sign she has brain stem function. They still don't know about the bleeds in her brain yet and if they are worse or better. I guess the scan at 8 will tell us more. Thank you for praying with us. On another note, look what one of my sweet friend made. Thank you Tara for everything. This has been so hard being apart from my family while they are going through this. I am going to go ahead and go to work. My parents will call me when they know some more news. I will try to post in between my surgeries today. Keep praying for Kyndall today.

12:15 pm update

Brett called. Now they have another doctor telling them different. She has 3 small fractures on the skull and now some very abnormal bleeding at the base of her brain. They are very concerned about this. The doctor told Brett that he needed to let them know this could go bad. They are going to do more CT scans in the next couple of days to watch this but she could still not make it.

11:00 pm update on Kyndall

I am brought to my knees tonight of the kindness of strangers and friends praying for my sweet niece. It is true that God never lets you go through things alone. He surrounds you with strangers, friends, and family that will pray with you. What an awesome God we have.
My brother took his family out for Mother's Day to do some inner tubing with the boat. Brett said that they had just called it a day and was heading to the dock while Kyndall was on the tube. They were going slow but a big wave came and flipped her over. Her knee must have hit her in the face pretty hard (he said she had a black eye immediately). By the time he came around to pick her up she was lifeless in the water. His friend dived in and drug her to the boat where Brett started CPR on her. She was blue and not breathing. They made it to the dock and rushed her in the ambulance. Some time in route her oxygen dropped and they had to stick a tube down her. Brett then called us on the way to the hospital asking us to pray.....Kyndall had a pulse but was not breathing. After several test they moved her to Tulane Hospital where she is in the PICU tonight.
Here is the latest as of 11pm:
The doctor walked in and told Brett that he "thinks this one is going to turn out ok" he said they still need more time to tell. She is fighting the tube so much they are thinking about taking it out and see how she does without it. The bleed on the brain hasn't changed much but too early to tell. She has a subarachnoid bleed and a skull fracture. They are trying to fight off all of the fluid in her lungs too. The next 24 hours are critical for Kyndall. My parents are flying out in the morning to be with them.

Power of prayer? You bet.

Praying her every STEP of the way for you Kyndall!
Thank you for praying with me.

This is Kyndall and her brother, Griffen.

Please pray with me!

My niece, Kyndall, was in a terrible boating accident today. She is hurt really bad and is on a ventilator right now. Bleeding in the brain, fractured skull, and fluid on her lungs. They are taking her to Tulane Hospital right now as I type. I am in tears as I type. Please, please pray for Kyndall. I know the good Lord above hears our prayers.
I will update when I can.
