Luke had a big month in November

Luke has had a knot on his neck since he was a baby. The doctors have been watching it for some time now. We saw a specialist in Austin about it and he wanted it out. There was just no way of being 100% sure it was cancerous unless they took it out. Talk about rock your world when you hear those words as a parent....
We set up a day surgery to have it out.
They were sending it to pathology and the report would be back in 2 weeks.

Luke's knot before it was removed. Above the red sticker.
                                                            He was such a trooper.
Casey and I sat in the waiting room.  Me in tears most of the time and Casey just paced. It was good to see Luke after the surgery. Now the prayers for good news and waiting would begin.

Luke wanted chips and dip after surgery. I think at this point, Casey and I would have given him a new car if he asked. Our hearts were heavy and full of worry. It took lots of tears and late night talks with God to get me through that time.
We went on and celebrated Luke's 9th birthday. He is such a good sport when it comes to trying to embarrass him buy making him stand on the chair to sing Happy Birthday.
He even did a salt and pepper shake dance to the song.
Love this 9 year old kid!
We celebrated with a trip to Legoland for Luke's birthday.

                                                       Luke was having a BLAST!

After a that we headed home for some presents and an ice cream cake. Yum!

This birthday was hitting daddy and I pretty hard. Still thinking and praying for our sweet boy to get a good report from pathology.

The day after Luke's birthday we headed to Austin for the results with the doctor. I had prepared myself for good or bad news and was ready to face it. I knew if Luke had to go through some serious health problems the good Lord was going to see us through it. Casey was nervous as we pulled up in the parking garage. We held hands and waited for them to call us back. It felt like hours.....the doctor closed the door and said "Luke does not have cancer" The tears began to flow as we held our son and thanked the Lord for hearing our prayers. The doctor was so glad too. He wasn't sure how Luke's lymph node was going to turn out because it did have a good blood supply to it. Whew........it is amazing that one sentence can change your life forever. There are so many out there who do not get the news we got that day. God lays it on my heart each day I see Luke to appreciate health and pray for those who are having to battle theirs.

November was a big month for Luke........

Austin Trip With The Nemecs

Casey and I were ready for some adult fun, so we asked our good friends from the hood to join us in some Austin fun!
Love these two guys! David and Elizabeth are sooo much fun.
Elizabeth and I were determined to ride a bull that night. Oh, we were so bad at it! Fun times.

Poor girl had blisters on her toes from all of the walking we did that night.
I should never quit my job as a nurse. I don't make a very good bull rider. For sure!
