This summer I started a treat chart for the 3L's. They were needing a little motivation on cleaning their rooms, picking up their toys, and being nice to each other. To be honest, I got tired of hearing myself saying the same things over and over to them and feel like nobody is listening! I thought there has to be a way of getting through to them. So I came up with the treat chart. Each L has one placed on their bedroom door to help them remember their chores for the day. IF they have done all of their chores for the day (yes, I have said no way Jose! Try again tomorrow) then they get a star on their chart. After 6 stars in a row (they get one day off. That may soon change. ha!) then they can draw from their treat jar. In each jar I wrote out several pieces of paper with fun things to do on them and special treats to go get. Examples are: a trip to your favorite park, a snow cone, have a friend over, pick your favorite candy from the dollar store, and cooking with mommy. This week Luke drew from the jar making a cake with mom, Landry drew decorating cookies with mom, and Lauren drew pick out a movie from the $1 Redbox machine. This has been the best trick with the 3L's! My house is a little neater and all I have to do is remind them "Do you want a sticker today? You better leave your sister alone" ha.
Here is Luke and I making an orange train cake with orange icing. His choice!
(I have to say that I loved spending one on one time in the kitchen with them)
