Landry's Appointment with the ID Doctor

As most of you know, Landry is allergic to almost all (only a few left to try) antibiotics. He has a rare condition that is called IgG immune complex. This Tuesday we saw our 5th doctor to help us with his allergy.Align Center

Landry had an appointment in Dallas with an Infectious Disease doctor. This appointment was requested by our Pediatric Immunologist at Children's Hospital to help us come up with a game plan for Landry this fall/winter months. This appointment has taken 5 months to get in so you can imagine how ready we were to see this doctor! This ID doctor is supposed to find the molecular structure of certain antibiotic that she thinks will not react to his body.
So off to Dallas we went...all 3L's cause school had not started yet.

I think having Lauren and Luke with us really helped him be ok about being here.

You know how the wait goes for the doctor to walk in that door. We had lots of giggling going on in that little room.

Thank goodness for an Iphone with applications!

The wait was really long.....

Well, things didn't go as planned. It by far was a waste of time....and that frustrates us. Three doctors were in on the consult. We went through his past history, hospital/ER visits, and past information from all the other doctors. The main ID doctor kept calling it the wrong name and saying things that went against what out Pediatric Immunologist has said. It took one of the doctors leaving the room to go call Dr. W (our ped Immunologist) to learn more about this kind of illness. They were clueless and seemed too scared to treat him if he got sick. After this one doctor told the main one everything WE and our Ped. Immun. had been saying she didn't have a clue as to what to give him. She just repeated everything Dr. W said.
The only thing NEW we found out is that from now on Dr. W wants Landry to be put in the hospital anytime he has an illness (strep, pneumonia, etc.) in order for her to "try" these last choices. It is too risky to treat him at home for fear of what can happen.
This new information has Casey and I kind of nervous....but in the same sentence I will say
that Our God is the Great Physician! I refuse to let fear take over us. We are still hopeful and now feel like we have the right MAIN doctor. Dr. W has been right about everything so far.

This is ALL in God's hands!

First Day of School Pictures 2009

Here we go...... A new school year is here and all 3L's were up early this morning ready for their photo shoot. ha! Landry 4, Lauren 10, Luke 6
My new 5th grader
My new 1st grader

All of a sudden it became a game of "Help me Landry I don't want to go"
Dad and 3L's
Me and 3L's
As I battled traffic on Hewitt Dr, I couldn't help but notice the little blondie in my backseat who looked so much grown up. Kind of hard to drive with tears in your eyes!

Today turned out to be a pretty good day for all of them.
Each one had a smile on their face when I picked them up. Yeah! Speaking of.....3 kids and 3 different schools.......... I made it on time too. I even passed a cop and waved. Thank you Lord for him not stopping me!
I am thankful for answered prayers today for my children.
Wishing them and all the kiddos a good year.

Meet the Teacher Night for Lauren and Luke

Tonight was a special night, we met the other 2L's teachers. They both start school on Weds. so it was really nice to see their rooms and meet some fabulous teachers.
It is going to be a great year!
Luke and his First Grade teacher, Mrs. Breitkreutz
Everyone calls her Mrs. B for short! She is as sweet as they come. A perfect fit for Luke.
Guess who is room mom again? I don't know how I get myself into these. Ha! (I really don't mind. I love being a part of my kiddos school)
Every year it never fails, someone questions Luke's age. He looks more like a 2nd grader (or even some 3rd) due to his size. Just one tall, sweet kid! I can't get over this precious boy is in first grade now.
Lukey, dad and I love you sooo much! Your big blue eyes and heart of gold will surely melt your teacher's heart. We wish you the very best at school. We couldn't be more proud of who you are becoming. When Weds. rolls around and it is time to drop you off at school I have no doubt my heart will ache a little to see you walk up to that little school. I will also smile with joy knowing all of the wonderful times ahead.
Love you to the moon and back Luke!
~Mom and Dad
Lauren has moved on........on to another school that is. She is now in Midway Intermediate School and I don't think her daddy and I can stand it much longer! When did our first born get so big? and beautiful? and turning into a little young lady?
Tonight we met all of her teachers.....all 7 of them. Wow! We were so impressed with this school. The kids are in colored blocks which means they will stay with their color at all times. Lauren is in the Orange block which means she will only go in the Orange hall for her classes. This cuts down on confusion and lost kiddos. I think it is a great way to get them ready for Junior High.

I don't think I have ever seen her so excited about school starting!
She is really looking forward to it.

This smile makes me want to cry! I mean that in a good way, it really warms my heart to see her so happy. Lauren has just really blossomed this past year into this independent, confident, and caring little girl. I can't get over that she is in 5th grade now. Where did my baby girl go? She is as almost as tall as me too. She comes right up to my chin. (I am not that short 5'5")
Wow, what a true blessing it is to watch her grow.

Lauren, when you read this someday I want you to know how much daddy and I think the world of you. You are one amazing young lady. We truly couldn't love you any more! You will always be one of my very best friends in life and a daughter who I am proud to call mine. My prayers for you this year is that you will just continue to blossom into this young lady who is loved by so many. You can do ANYTHING in life you set your heart out to do and remember mom and dad will ALWAYS be right there supporting you and your dreams.

We love you tootie~Mom and Dad
School starts Weds......praying for a great year!

Summer has come to an end at the Reed house and that means....

saying goodbye to one of the best sitters the 3L's have ever had. Sweet Carli has kept them for two summers now while I was a surgery nurse. I never worried about them because Carli kept them safe and loved on them while mom and dad were at work. Today we wanted to surprise her with some cupcakes the 3L's made for her and a couple of fun gift cards to her favorite store.
Looking back I see the beauty in how God found me this precious girl (and just happens to be a Hoodies daughter) to watch over my loves so I could be a nurse. She is as precious as they come and I am so thankful for her.

Lauren looked up to her because she was an older girl. Luke loved her from the start because she has a cool name. He loves ICarly the tv show. Landry is going to miss her the most. He loves his "Car-we" Casey and I feel like she is another daughter to us.

We love you Carli!

In 2 days 2 more L's will start school. Summer was so much fun and relaxing. It is kind of hard to see it go but I guess it is time for the next chapter at the Reed house.

Stay tuned....meet the teacher night tomorrow.

Blessings~Rob
