May 4, 1991 I was in a horrible accident that killed 2 people. An 88 year old man ran a red light and hit my best friend and I. The good Lord was watching over me that day! There was a nurse at the scene that pulled me from the car and gave me CPR. She was my angel. I was hurt pretty bad and it took me several surgeries to get better. 20 years later, I went back in to have my ankle bone shaved down and cleaned up. Painful, but look at the pain ball med I got. Woo-hoo!
Getting around was hard. 3 kids later, 6 one week old English Bulldog puppies, and a house that doesn't clean itself made for some long days. It was hard watching my family getting to swim on 105 degree days so I wrapped my cast in plastic to join them......didn't work.
One week later I was cutting it off! Yes, they say nurses make the worst patients. ha!
I have the BEST hubby who will break the rules with me.
It felt so much better to have that hot thing off!!! The doc wasn't too mad.
He just put me in a boot for the rest of the summer.
20 years later, I am still soooo thankful to be alive and well!
I may have to deal with this ankle all my life, but now I am looking at the pain as a reminder of how things could have been different that day.
Counting my Blessings!
