Nothing like a Redneck baby shower for a Hoodie!

Some of our dearest best friends-Hoodies-neighbors are expecting a baby boy in March. This will be #3 for them. They are catching up to the Reeds! woo-hoo. We came up with a plan on how to celebrate this exciting time for them.....a Redneck baby shower! Now let me just say, you can't just throw anyone a Redneck shower and they love it. ha! David and Elizabeth have kept us all rolling over the years with their Earl and Earleen impressions. They even came dressed up to a Halloween party one year as our favorite backwoods Redknecks. Having a picture of this gave us the perfect idea on what to do for their cake. (oh how the bakers at HEB laughed!) La Fiesta made the prefect place to have our couples shower. We decorated with only the finest decor you can buy....well, maybe not! Feed sacks for the guest of honor chair, cut outs of Earleen blown up with an arrow pointing to baby, Boones bottles with flowers, all the present wrapped in Walmart sacks and laundry baskets....this was probably one of the easiest baby showers ever planned. ha!

The budlight box was really a gift inside....a little onesie that said "New kid in da'Hood"

Of course some of the guest wore their best outfits.

Me and my favorite redneck. Yea, he is all mine! haha.
Mindy and Troy
Karen and Trey
Trudi and Jeff
Beautiful Liz! All the Hoodie girls
David and the Hoodie Men
David and Elizabeth were the BEST sports on letting us throw them a surprise redneck shower! This little boy is going to be blessed with two wonderful parents. I know how much they are a blessing to my family. We love everything about them and will love this little Earl too when he gets here!!! (by the way the bottles are more decor)
David you "Got Er Done"

Liz, if you are reading this I want you to know how much I love you dearly friend. You are beautiful in every way! My prayers are with you during this exciting time. Praying for a healthy baby boy and a smooth delivery. I am oncall for you! If you need a Hoodie...even in the middle of the night...I will send Casey. ha! You know I am kidding...I am there!!! What a week...

This week I have been a single mom while Casey is in New York for business. Why is it that when the hubby is out of town things happen? Am I the only one this happens too? I swear this is what happens over here. Calgon take me away.......
The past 2 nights I have been up with Luke. He has a pretty bad bronchitis crud going on right now and breathing treatments are not helping much. After two nights of awful up all night coughing we went to the doctor to change up his medicine. Things went down hill from there. My sweet guy got so sick from the new medicine and has been throwing it up this evening. Bless his heart....I am sure he will be better once it is out of his system. It has been such a challenge to keep the other 2 L's away from him so they won't get sick. Especially Landry Love! Oh, that would not be good.
But, I must say that even though I feel like this week has been tough without Daddy.... God has really watched over me. Let me explain, something bad could have happened the other day. Something really bad that would have crushed the 3L's. As some of you know we have this new pool in the backyard. Casey and I always make sure the 3L's are never out there without us. Lauren was at school, Landry at Ms. Heathers, and Luke was on the couch doing a breathing treatment. I decided I would clean our bathroom since it looked like a tornado hit it. I heard some thud noises but thought it was Luke in the living room. Something inside me (when I say something I mean God) told me to look outside our bedroom window. There she was.....our English Bulldog Lucy in the pool about to drown. It was awful. I saw her head above the water and then it was gone. I ran out to the pool and got her out. She was lifeless at first and then started to throw up. She is ok but is shook me to the core to see this. I am so THANKFUL that the Lord caught my attention in time. So even though I feel like this has been a long, rough week without daddy...I am reminded once again God is watching over my family. Whew! Praise God.
This is Lucy Girl (picture taken Nov. 08) with a pot on her head. She isn't the smartest dog out there but we love that speckled dog!

And yes, since this happened the girls are in time out (aka their dog pen). Probably forever!

We live within the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by the God who is above all Gods~Psalms 91:1

Happy Friday Everyone.

We miss you daddy! Can't wait to see you soon.

A glimpse into our future....

One of my best friends sent Lauren her prom dresses from high school. What a sweet surprise!Jen has two little boys and she decided that they probably wouldn't get much out of these.(although....Luke and Landry love to dress up! Their daddy has begged me to not post any of those pictures) Lauren was beyond thrilled to receive these in the mail. Oh, and yes my friend is tiny! These dresses barely fit my 10 year old. Goodness Jen, I am going to have to move you here to Texas to fatten you up girl. jk!Casey wanted her to hurry up and take them off because it was making him too nervous to think about her going to prom someday. That is when he decided that she would have to take daddy instead of some ol' harry legged boy. Great idea Honey!

Oh, my baby girl is growing up so fast. She is my everything and more. Wow Lauren, God knew I needed you. You are my precious daughter.

A big HUG and THANK YOU to my sweet thoughtful friend.
Love you dearly Jen!

My Funny Valentine!

Landry Love, you are my Funny Valentine....
Today you told me to stop kissing daddy because my face is only supposed to have kisses from you on them.

Landry: Mommy, when I grow up can I live with you still?
Mom: Landry don't you want to get married and have a family someday and live in your own house?
Landry: I think so....but what will happen to you?
Mom: I will live here with daddy still.
Landry: Still? You won't come live with me in my house?
Mom: No honey
Landry: Who is going to give you kisses?
Mom: I guess Daddy will......
Landry: That is not fair.

Ha! Landry Love what would I do without your sweet kisses someday? I guess Mommy is going to have to come live with you!

Getting ready for Valentine's Day with the 3L's....

is so much fun!
We made a special trip to Target to let them pick out their valentines. Then it was time to decorate boxes and bags with lots of hearts. I remember doing this as a kid! Luke and Dad worked on his special valentine box for school. This was right up Luke's alley! Building something is his thing. Luke picked out puppy valentines to share with his class.

Landry worked hard on his valentine bag for our Hoodie V-day party coming up. (Hoodies love parties! To all of those who want to join our group...come on! We have a house for sale in the neighborhood. We lost some sweet neighbors to El Paso, Texas)

Lauren will always be Daddy's valentine. Lauren's due date was Feb. 14 but she decided to come a month early. She was such a surprise to us! Then to find out she was due on hearts day we thought is was a perfect date for this heavenly surprise.

Luke and his V-day box for kindergarten.

Lauren getting her valentines ready. We asked her if there was a certain person she was excited to give one to and she said "No mom not yet. I don't have a boyfriend" Whew.....sweetpea, you are still so young and there is NO hurry for those hairy ol' boys.

Landry with his McQueen car Valentines. I think this boy has had the same valentine cards every year! His little heart does not ever stray from his first loves.

Couch to a 5K Running plan.....

I have been following this Couch to a 5K running plan for sometime now. Thanks to my friend Amanda N. who has amazing legs and inspired me! This year I turned 36 and my goal is to run a 5K before I am 40. Yep, it will probably take me that many years to do this. haha! Check out my new shoes. Hey, a girl has to be stylish as she runs?!? I was kind of hoping the pretty shoes would distract passer-bys from my red face!
The plan is supposed to get my hiney off the couch and running 3 miles within 2 months. It works! I am a runner now. woo-hoo! I must say I never really got into running in the past and enjoyed it until now.....well, kind of enjoying it until this week.....let me explain.
It seems there is this nerve that runs down your hiney and into your hip....(Yes, I know I am a nurse. I just must have not really paid much of attention to this in A&P class) Well, if you damage this nerve some how....like running? It causes awful pain! OMStars...it hurts. It isn't a pain that happens all of the time. I can be in the grocery store walking and it all of a sudden hurts. It makes me jump around on one foot with tears in my eyes. You can imagine the looks I get from people as they think I must have stepped on a nail. ha!

My husband thinks it is just my age catching up with me. Stink! he is just the same age as me. (even a month older!) Well, I am writing this post to vent but to remind myself it takes time to heal. I will try again soon to get back into running and hopefully accomplish my 5K goal in the near future. Even moms have dreams too 3L's.

There is a saying in Texas....

"If you don't like the weather, stick around till the next day" or something like that. ha! We have been having some beautiful days this winter here in Texas. The 3L's can't understand why they can't swim yet......maybe cause the water says 50?!? The boys have found a new way to play with the pool, a remote control boat. My little scientist has figured out how to take apart his boat and put it back together again. I asked him the other day what he wanted to do when he grows up and he said "I think I want to build a house for you and dad." Woo-hoo! Sounds good to me. ha!

The sea prowler.
Have a blessed rest of the week!
